NUWFa initiatives
Production grant
Every year, NUWFA will award one production grant to a film that is written and directed by a woman with a preference for female crew heads. Any student that identifies as female or gender non-conforming is eligible. The themes of the film must also align with NUWFA's mission statement of providing gender representation on the screen. Head over to the "films" tab to see previous NUWFA grant recipients!
Mentorship Program
Every fall, students are able to apply to be paired with an upperclass mentor based on interests. A great way to get to know older students in the RTVF department, ask questions, receive advice and guidance, and meet new people.
EVENTS
General Member Meetings
You can still be part of NUWFA even if you're not on the exec board! Every quarter, NUWFA hosts General Member Meetings to discuss various topics in gender representation on the screen. Previous topics have included Women in Period Pieces, Final Girls, and Manic Pixie Dream Girls.
Industry Panels
NUWFA hosts several panels every year where we invite women working in the film industry from Los Angeles and Chicago to talk about their careers, answer questions, and meet students. Previous panelists include:
-

-
Liz Cardenas, producer
-
Amanda Brinton, production designer
-
Kate Presutti, Late Late Show with James Corden
-
Kris Swanberg, writer/director
